Sonia Uddin is an artist and filmmaker living and working in London. Solo and collaborative projects explore social exchange, group dynamics, community voice and conditions that allow for resilience and unrest. Her practice is interdisciplinary, often collaborative, working across film, performance, sculpture, collage and print. Research and practice currently engages with themes around social architecture and housing, resistance, migration, the built environment, public and private space, and the voices that emerge during times of community struggle. Social histories, visual and oral archives form the basis of a research-based, documentary approach.
Completing an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art she worked as part of collaborative duo Uddin & Elsey making site related, socially engaged works and projects. Participating in international residencies, group exhibitions, commissioned projects and talks.
